October 2018: Introspection (Read the Full Issue)

Welcome to the October 2018 issue of Parvati Magazine.

We tend to be an externally driven society. Our senses move our awareness outward toward what we see, feel, touch, smell and taste. The information that comes through our senses becomes the foundation for our thoughts. Our thoughts fuel our actions. Our actions form our lives.

As the weather turns colder, the days shorten. Nature turns inward and so must we. Potentially attached to our external tendency, we can get hung up on life being a certain way. We can become habituated to fast paced living and getting things done when we want them to be. As the fall wraps its cool breeze around our lives, as the leaves turn brilliant colours and float to the ground, we are reminded of the power of letting go.

In this month’s issue, on the theme of Introspection, you will find inspiration from Ana Forrest’s unique blend of yoga and Native American spirituality, Jessica Sepel’s refreshing take on nutrition, Ief Winckelmans’s revolutionary idea to support the blue economy, Root of Peace’s transformative work in war-torn areas, and much more. We also unveil Yogis Unite’s first key supporter, the American yoga teacher and conservationist Amy Ippoliti.

Thank you for reading the October 2018 issue of Parvati Magazine.

We are unavoidably part of this busy world. But you do not need to lose your focus on consciousness. The speed of life offers many opportunities to go inward and find out what you are really feeling.

Use this day as an opportunity to notice what you feel. Where do you hold tension? What is that tension saying? Can you honour that voice, spoken through your body, and live in greater balance?

Perhaps that voice is asking you to get out of the shopping mall and take a few breaths of fresh air. Perhaps it says that you need to plow through a crowd and complete your errands without dallying. Perhaps it offers you inner wisdom to skip a party and take a bath instead, or go out dancing instead of staying home. Whatever you need, tune into it. Allow your body to be your best friend, a barometer for how you are feeling and responding to any given situation. When you act from a place of rooted, vital expansion, you will always remain in balance within the whole.

Love yourself.
Love others.
Love our world.
We are one Earth family.
