Letter from the Editor: Acceptance, by Parvati Devi
Acceptance is one of those words that is often misunderstood, even secretly feared. We may think of acceptance, like surrender, as throwing in the towel and becoming powerlessly subject to the will of something other than ourselves.
Thinking of acceptance like this is to divide ourselves from the Divine, to see ourselves as separate from the universe in which we live. When we see acceptance as an expression of powerlessness, we are identified with our ego and feel that we are in control of it all.
If we were to open the deep heart and psyche of a sincere spiritual aspirant, we would find a profound and rich state of acceptance. Acceptance fuels our vibrant life force and their sense of inner peace. Acceptance allows us to get out of our own way and welcome the potency of this moment, which is an expression of life itself. To accept, we meet life fully. When we accept, we find miraculous healing, profound joy, and the fulfillment of our deepest desires.
This month’s issue explores the notion of acceptance in all aspects of life. You will find here articles in health, wellness, yoga, meditation, beauty, nutrition, politics, activism, business, music and more that help you live a life rooted in acceptance. May your life flower into the expression of the divine that you truly are.
