Fitness: Endings and New Beginnings, by Sandra O’Brien

The Universe never fails to delight and enlighten me. The past several months have been a true whirlwind, personally and professionally. I was presented seemingly “out of the blue” with an opportunity, which I jumped on, to leave the city (a life desire) and head north to start a new chapter professionally. In my personal life, a primary relationship ended abruptly due to a situation I never thought would happen. This then opened up opportunity for a life desire to unfold. Yes, the Universe answers all our desires if we clearly state what they are and simply believe.

Many of my clients recently embarked on a 14 Day Fat Furnace Challenge. It consisted of Tabata workouts several times per week plus eating very clean. The total
carb allowance per day was 40 grams. No processed, microwaved or chemical-laden foods were tolerated. I am thrilled to say many of those involved, who followed the guidelines, were very successful in creating a leaner, stronger and healthier body. The overall weight lost in the 14 day program was 12 plus pounds. Talk about releasing old ways of eating and adopting new habits! These ladies, and gents (many of the women convinced their husbands to take the journey with them), have decided to adopt the lower carb eating as a new way of life going forward. The benefits for them have been many. Increased energy, no bloating, sleeping better, fitting into clothing they have not be able to get into in a very long time, and just an overall increase in well-being. Who doesnʼt want that?

When you look over your life as a whole, or your fitness routine, and you donʼt see the results you had hoped for, itʼs time to release what you have always done. Time to replace thoughts and habits with something new. Creating a new thought process, releasing judgements about what you have done or not done, taking new actions and focusing on where you want to go are key steps to creating a new beginning. Letting go of old patterns and habits will always open doors and present opportunities for new and exciting avenues for you to flourish.

Being comfortable with releasing the old is not always a pain-free journey. It may force you to look deeply at issues you typically sweep under the rug. I can tell you, from personal experience, no matter how uncomfortable, it is always in your best interest to deal with it. Doesnʼt matter if itʼs a conversation you need to have with someone, committing to get a daily workout in versus flopping on the couch, or deciding to have a salad instead of the sandwich… the result is the same. Dealing with your demons will yield a stronger, happier, more centered You. And that is always an awesome place to be for a new beginning.
