Letter from the Editor: Endings and Beginnings, by Parvati Devi and Pranada Devi

As we move towards the end of 2012, a time that the ancients said would mark a period of global rebalancing, another year will have passed. As with all periods of transition, we can meet life with resistance, burying ourselves in mindless pastimes or we can engage fully and thrive.

Art is an active participant in cultural trends. It can reflect current happenings back to the masses, giving them more voice. It can turn tides and influence the evolutionary trajectory of a period of time.

The power of media to inspire and transform has been at the helm of every revolution in consciousness. The words and images we choose to take in are as important to our health and well being as the quality of food we ingest, because they contain within them information that will influence our thinking and energy. Like food that becomes the very fibers of our physical bodies, books, film and music provide nourishment that becomes part of our thinking process and the way we perceive and experience the world. It is up to us to choose what we take in, if we care to live as engaged beings.

As we approach the end of the year and the beginning of whatever 2013 may bring, we reaffirm our commitment in Parvati Magazine to provide articles that nourish minds and spirits and support an awakened earth.

Wishing you ease and joy through all transitions,

Parvati and Pranada
