Fitness: Love Yourself And Cherish The A-Ha Moments, by Sandra O’Brien

When it comes to accepting my body, mindset and letting go have been key. The more I have focused on loving and accepting my body, the less effort I have had to give to eating clean and moving daily. When my focus has been fully centered towards health and feeling good, as opposed to the number on the scale or what size I wear, I naturally have put less stress on myself about what goes into my mouth. My food/drink choices have effortlessly been in line with what my body innately needs to support itself. And the pounds and inches effortlessly have fallen to the wayside and replaced with more energy, and it is easier to stay hydrated.

Do I always eat clean? Certainly not. But when the times arise where I eat more carbs than is best for my body or I consume a few more beverages than is probably best for me, I donโ€™t beat myself up about it. It is what it is. I know that one meal, one event is not the end and be all, of my overall health or way of life. I know that there is tomorrow and I am given another opportunity to move forward yet again in creating my best version of myself in body and mind. I know that what this looks like will morph daily depending on a wide variety of factors. I do know, as long as my big picture is to live until I am 111 and have the ability to dance daily, I am doing well. Each and every day, if I do something that can possibly make my children roll their eyes and say, โ€œDear God, Mother, act your age!โ€, I know I still have the fountain of youth surging through my veins! These are good days.

Life does not always give us the cards we think we should be dealt. Sometimes we are slapped in the face with events which make us see a relationship is never going to be what we longed for, no matter how much we love the other person, we are never going to be a size 6 or have the ability to come in top 10 in an Ironman race. But we do have the ability to do our best. We do have the option of finding happiness and joy in doing what we can, to bring ourselves and those we love kindness and peace within the journey. At the end of the day, if we know our values, we know who and what we want to be remembered as when we leave this earth, and live our lives accordingly, we will have lived well. Know what makes you smile and partake daily. Know what fills your cup and do so daily. Cherish moments no matter how seemingly small with those you love. Inhale the moments that fill your being with so much joy, you cry from pure overflow. I assure you, it is well worth it.ย Many go through life and die without such a pleasure. I invite you not to be one of them.
