JUNE 2019: FAITH

Welcome to the June 2019 issue of Parvati Magazine, dedicated to MAPS, the Marine Arctic Peace Sanctuary.

All of us at Parvati Magazine are still catching our breath after the devastating loss of one of Parvati.org’s initial members, Darcy Belanger. But MAPS lives on and will be realized. Darcy demonstrated faith and courage, and that is how we move forward.

As it was for Darcy, all my work on MAPS has been a repeated call to faith, to take bold leaps into the unknown, trust and expand to meet unforeseen possibilities. I recall a moment I had when I was on the road, making connections for MAPS. During a meditation, I saw beneath me a bridge of light. I could not see it with plain sight, but in surrender, in openness, in trust, I saw it there, carrying my every step. It calls me to live right here, right now and give this moment all I have. Many Parvati.org volunteers have had similar experiences, whether travelling halfway across the world or finding their phone ring with a key official on the other line ready to talk about MAPS.

This month’s issue is on the theme of faith, that is, the energy of love and compassion that moves us forward in trust in the greater good. You will discover Dr. Lisa Damour’s advice to help girls find self-confidence, the inspiring legacy of conservation from Sharkwater’s Rob Stewart, beauty without plastic from Ethique, our new Yogis Unite for MAPS ally, and much more.

Enjoy!

Thank you for reading the June 2019 issue of Parvati Magazine.

As I shared in a conversation with Darcy in last month’s issue, courage calls us not to fight what is, but to be with it. Faith comes from this same place, anchored in the heart. It is not bravado, but profound surrender and trust to move forward even when we cannot see past the next step. We are part of a vast, wise and compassionate whole–loved and held beyond what we can perceive through our limited senses. Aware that we are specks amidst an immense universe, we can touch an honest frailty of being, which actually empowers us. We are intrinsically connected, like threads woven into the tapestry of life. As we surrender to this moment in faith, we find love, energy and lasting joy to serve the greater good of all.

Love yourself.
Love others.
Love our world.
We are one Earth family.
