From The Editor: Going Inward

We tend to be an externally driven society. Our senses move our awareness outward toward what we see, feel, touch, smell and taste. The information that comes through our senses becomes the foundation for our thoughts. Our thoughts fuel our actions. Our actions form our lives.

When we are unaware of this pattern, we become captive to our wants. We can fool ourselves into thinking that we will find happiness in the illusive things that come and go, like pretty clothes, fancy cars and luxurious homes. Yet all those leave when we do. They do not last. Only our ability to cultivate an eternal sense of inner contentment will be with us when our time comes.

As the weather turns colder, the days shorten. Nature turns inward and so must we. Potentially attached to our external tendency, we can get hung up on life being a certain way. We can become habituated to fast paced living and getting things done when we want them to be. As the fall wraps its cool breeze around our lives, as the leaves turn brilliant colours and float to the ground, we are reminded of the power of letting go.

In this issue, we will explore how to embrace this season of change. Fall is a time of going inward, harvesting, storing and preparing for the winter, so these are the themes in this month’s issue.

Please enjoy the articles here geared to inspire and support you going inward, harvesting and preparing for the winter in your own way, whether it is recession proofing your business, keeping snug with healthy cosmetic oils, preparing for cold weather exercises, going deeper in your yoga and meditation practice or deciding what films and music are good for inner inspiration.

Let go and enjoy,
